Pressure washing is great by itself, it can be used to clean stains off of siding, make your driveway sparkling clean, or even wash your car. And yes, you’ve probably heard of a variety of tools and extenders that you can use with your pressure washer to make it more effective in different applications.
However, there are some new cleaning methods that some are using to get even better results. So, today we’ve scoured the internet to bring you the best methods that you can use at home to take your power washing up a notch.
Cleaning by Hand
First, we can clean by hand. Cleaning by hand is definitely considered an old-fashioned way of cleaning but combined with new and modern cleaning chemicals, we can get a lot more done when we combine traditional cleaning with pressure washing.
Start the cleaning process by gathering your supplies including your industrial soap or chemicals and a bucket, hose, brush, and/or rag. Fill your bucket with some water, add in your chemicals or soap per the instructions and use a brush or rag to gently clean the surface of your chosen area. Then, just use your power washer to rinse all that soap off.
Foam Cleaning
Did you know that foam cleaning is now the new alternative to pressure washing? That’s right, some companies are completely ditching pressure washing in favor of a foam cleaning solution. When used in an industrial setting, foam is sprayed on, let sit for a period of time, and then rinsed away with a hose.
The benefit of foam cleaning is that it’s super quiet, requires no fuel source, and is low energy. Plus, the foam is able to remove just about anything the powerwasher normally would.
Some people are taking foam cleaning a step further combining it with the intense pressure of a power washer for an even cleaner finish. If you want to use foam, you will need to find one that will work for your specific application. Because foam cleaners are so strong you typically won’t find a foam cleaner that is multi-use.
The best way to use foam and a pressure washer together is to start with your foam application by following the directions on the bottle. When the foam is ready to be rinsed off, use your pressure washer instead of a hose.
Heat Cleaning
It’s possible you’ve never even heard of heat cleaning. Heat cleaning is often used on driveways, walkways, and sidewalks. It’s generally only used to remove viscous things like tar or gum. Wherever you consider using heat will obviously need to be heat safe. But in areas where this is possible, heat cleaning is one of the most effective ways to get certain substances off.
So, if you’ve been struggling to get tar off of your driveway consider starting with some heat cleaning and follow that up with traditional pressure washing. The combination of both will give you a perfectly clean surface. This is great when you’ve been struggling to see results with other cleaning methods.
Even these new methods can’t clean as good as a good ole’ pressure washer. Let Dixon Pressure Washing pressure wash your home today.
